Street Slaughter

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta)

6th February 2017

PETA activists staged a performed slaughter of a human, with similar methods of how most farmed animals are killed, on the streets of London. The 'slaughtered' human was hung upside down, while two 'slaughterhouse workers' cut their throat. They used fake blood and prop knives, which enhanced the gore of the piece, with intentions to shock and break down the barrier of speciesism. The main messaging from PETA was that humane slaughter is a myth, with this theatrical representation proving such. The campaign, like most food campaigns from PETA, asks those watching to go vegan.
